Michael Woolrych,( e-mail michael@woolrych.org) is researching for a book of the family who stem from Sir Adam FItzWulfric or Wolriche of Wenlock, now known as Much Wenlock, Salop (Shropshire), in the early 13th Century, then William Wolryche , who married the heiress of Dudmaston near Bridgnorth, Salop (Shropshire), in descent from the Norman family of Harlewin de Butaille, in early 15th century, then John Wolryche of Dinmore Manor, a former Commandery of the Knights of Saint John of Jerusalem, near Hereford, and Humphry Cornewall Woolrych, who bought Croxley House estates, near Rickmansworth, Herefordshire, in the mid 18th Century, from the Earl of Clarendon.
There are also a number of the family interred at the Church at Quatt in Shropshire.
The spelling of the surname Woolrych is unique world-wide, so that anyone bearing the name is related - sometimes quite distantly - with over 100 living members in the United Kingdom, United States of America, Australia, and Denmark. There are numerous variations of the spelling of the name, some of which are related.
